Why Come to an MCC?
MCC of Flint is here to serve the LGBT and affirming communities in the Greater Flint area.  Your help, talents, voice and experience are needed to make this a very successful venture.
Many people have come and gone through our doors. This has been for many  reasons.  None of which anyone seems willing to share with MCC of Flint the reasons so that we may better serve you. This means that nothing changes.  It is time for you to return and experience the new MCC of Flint and express your needs, desires and opinions.
Many individuals choose to remain within their former "mainline"  denomination churches as they are becoming "welcoming" or "affirming".  We would like to suggest that this simply is not true.  They are merely becoming a slight bit more tolerant of you as an individual.  Despite their tolerance, they continue to see you a "second class citizen" in their eyes.
If your current church is so "welcoming" and "affirming" ask yourselves the following 4 questions:

1.    Will they marry me and my partner or even celebrate our commitment to each other in ceremony?
2.    Will they consider ordaining me to my ministry and my calling by G-D as an openly Gay man, Lesbian,
Bisexual or Transgender individual ... (without special conditions or rules that I must adhere to)?
3.    Can I use my special gifts, skills, abilities and experience to serve the denomination outside my local church
as an openly Gay man, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgender individual?
4.    With a degree in counseling could I be hired as Director of Pastoral Care for the denomination in my region
        and be "out"?

If you answered "NO" to any of the above questions, then ask yourself the following questions:

1.    Why am I supporting a fellowship/denomination/church, where I am considered less than equal
        to everyone else?
2.    Why do I continue to be oppressed and not be allowed to be completely myself as a part of that
        spiritual community?

I would like to challenge each and every one of you who had to answer "NO" to any of the first 4 questions, to come and check out MCC of Flint and see if you don't find a community of faith and believers who want you to be yourself and reach for your fullest potential.
